Valentine Birds

Hi Everyone,

I'm hosting the IC this weekend and for the inspiration website, I found an awesome webstore called "An Angel at My Table".  Very charming, vintage style items that I just loved!  I decided to make a Valentine for my parents.

I chose this gorgeous "St. Lucia White Bird Cage" as my inspiration piece.  ("Lucia" is my sister's name - how appropriate, right?!)   For my card, I started by punching the bottom border with a MS "Garden Trellis" Deep Edge border punch and embossing the floral "frame" right above it with a Sizzix EF.  I die cut a white Tim Holtz bird and birdcage using the Movers and Shapers dies.  I pulled out the "old reliable"  SU! Watercolor Minis" to create the stamped roses in the background.  Then I punched a smaller pink bird using a MS punch, and sponged a little bit of Crumb Cake ink onto all 3 of the punched pieces.  I adhered the cage and the birds to my card and stamped a SU! Valentine sentiment that says "Valentine Be Mine."  I raised the "V" in the word Valentine and the white bird with some dimensional tape pieces.

The finishing touches were Star Dust Stickles on the roses, gold gems on the bird's eye and the top of the bird cage, and a Peel-Offs gold sticker chain connected to the top of the cage.

Here's the final product!

A Boy Card!

Hi Friends!

This month I'm working on boy cards - a wide spectrum of ages from not-really-"boys" any more (i.e. HS and college teens) to over the hill 50+ geezers LOL!  Egads!! What am I saying, I'm over 50!!

I created this Star card by casing a card by Lynn Mangan from the March 2012 Cards mag.  The sketch and color scheme are pretty much the same, as the published version, so it was hard to go wrong!  I used SU punches, Basic Grey DP, Recollections bling, AC buttons and the sentiment is SU.
Stamped image is "Floral" by Rubbernecker stamps. Sentiment by SU!

This next card is super simple for the IC this weekend.  The inspiration website is "Superfine Bakery" and I chose this cake as my inspiration piece.  I used SU Markers direct-to-rubber onto glossy.  Added 3 rhinestones and the sentiment and I was good to go!  I stamped the envelope with the residual ink still left on the stamp, just a couple of huffs on it and it made a very nice ghost impression on the envy.

Autumn Owls for the Challenges

I was checking out the Etsy Inspired challenge and found a cute Sleeping Owls Eye Pillow and that became the start of this Challenge Card!  As I checked out the different challenges for this week, I decided I'd use Autumn Colors on my little guys so I could link my card to some of the other challenges out there.

I knew I wanted little boutonnieres for each owl (this was a thought in my head since I first got the punch!) and pulled out the tiniest flower punch I had.  Using scrap DP, I punched a bunch of teeny flowers, pressed in their centers with my stylus pen to get them to curve upward and then layered 3 of them together for each flower.

I punched all the owls out in Early Espresso CS, and then used several different DP scraps to create vests for them.  I drew a line down the center of each vest, glued on some itty bitty mini mini buttons and added the googly eyes on their faces.

I mounted each onto a punched square and punched scallop square and let their feet dangle off the edges.  Attached them to my base card all facing a different direction and decided to stop there!

And here's the challenges that inspired this card:

Garden in My Pocket Card

Working the Challenges here friends!!

This is a pocket card for Flourishes Look Who’s 3 Challenge -- make a birthday card honoring Flourishes;   Flourishes Bring Back Beauty Challenge -- go with a "Rustic" theme, The Flower Soft Blog Hop Challenge -- use your fav color(s) Flower soft, and Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge -- Forgotten Embellishments: Buttons, Brads or Eyelets

The pocket card houses a book mark clip which I now think I should have made a refrigerator magnet.  But oh well.  I made the flower with Sizzix Flowers Die #2 and used a canvas brad by Recollections to hold them together.  I added a few fern branches made with a Punch Bunch fern punch for some greenery.

For my "rustic" theme, I chose the watering can image from ODBD Happy Birthday set, colored it with Copics and embellished with Flower Soft and Stickles. The little butterfly was punched from MS Butterfly trio punch in blue CS and covered with blue glitter.

I used "Heather" Flower Soft which is not only my fav FS combo so far, but it matched perfectly!

And finally, I also punched out a Trelis border across the back of the pocket card along with some more fern branches, which I attached to the trellis, to kind of give it a garden-style look.

This one is for the Featured Stamper Challenge (Congrats Vicki!!) over on SCS, the Color Throwdown #104, and the Curtain Call Color Challenge - Act 42.

The owl is made with the punch that I almost didn't order from SU -- then I saw a Make and Take over at the Heirloom Rubberstamp Convention back in June and was totally sold!!  I've been punching away ever since!!
