Double Z Fold Card

DP used: K&Company Ancestry (all other supplies described below).
Hi Friends,

Still messing around this weekend with the fun challenges over on SCS. Today's challenge is by Score Pal and they asked for fancy fold cards.  I don't do very many fancy fold cards, but there was a "Double Z Fold" card I spotted on Pinterest that I wanted to try.

This card on Marisa's blog is the one I cased.  Please check her post here for the  dimensions and layout that I followed (you'll see the similarities when you check it out!).

Here's a "tour" around my finished card via different closeup pictures:

This is the top left.  I made the rosettes on my card with the Sizzix 3-D Flowers Die using the same DP as the main panel.  I made 7 small ones and 4 big ones (and got quite fast at it I must say, LOL!!).   I sponged TH Tea Dye and Walnut Stain ink on the petals and then added Ranger Star Dust Stickles on all the edges.  The swirl die cut is Cheery Lynn Tropical Flourish and the golden gems are by Want 2 Scrap.  The heart, fan, and white rose on this card are all buttons from "Favorite Findings" with the back shank cut off.

This is the bottom right side of the card.  The stamped sentiment is Fiskars Make a Wish Quotes on a Spellbinders Floral Oval using the same DP as the main panel of the card (back side).  Same embellishments used here as the top left.

This is a view from the back.  The lace boarder is SEI Love Birds collection.

This is a look at the inside of the card. The lacy background is also SEI Love Birds Collection. I cut a piece to fit the inside, sponged the edges, and adhered it with white glue. I will be adding a smaller (probably oval) panel over it that will allow me to write inside.
Finally, this is the card closed as it will be presented.  Just FYI, those rosettes are not as dark as they look, they are a lot creamier IRL.
TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

Love Fest 2013

 Hi Friends!

SCS is having a fun, week-long challenge called "Love Fest" that started last Thurs. (Valentines Day) and I thought I'd jump in and try my hand at a few of them this weekend!

This is the first challenge; you have to use items on your card that start with the letters L, O, V, and E.  Very clever!  My card is using a "L"adybug, "O"vals, "V"intage design, and "E"mbossing folder.

I'm off to try the next challenge!

TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

Going to a Wedding!

Hi friends,

I'm posting the card I'll be taking with me tomorrow as we leave for NM (home) for a big family wedding AND to see the annual Balloon Fiesta (which if you've ever seen it, you know why it's such a thrill every year!!).  This picture here "kind of" gives you a feel for what it's like -- it's almost overwhelming it's so gorgeous!! Getting to roam across the balloon field and stand next to the balloons as they ascend is part of what makes the event so unique and spectacular.  The view of hundreds and hundreds of colorful giant floating balloons overhead is indescribable (so I'll have to show you pics when I get back! LOL!)!

I've got some cards pre-posted for you for later this week so I hope you'll come by again later!

Thanks for visiting me!

Tuesday Doubledog Dare Challenge

Hello all!
I've been gone for the last couple of weekends so my stamping time has been very limited. This week I'm prepping for a workshop with 12 ladies, four of whom are from the Women's Shelter in the town just north of us. The rest of the ladies are the wives from my DH's and my bible study group that meets at our house on Tuesday nights. The ladies will be arriving at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday here at my house, so I'm very excited to be hosting a card making session for them!! All of them are first time stampers! I didn't know there were any left out there!! LOL!!
Last weekend we attended my neice's wedding in Amarillo, Texas! That was a fun trip, great to see family, and just awestruck witnessing the little girl that we watched grow up marry a wonderfully kind and handsome Marine. They'll be stationed in San Diego until Spring. He's already been to Iraq 3 times, and he's only 23!!, I was so impressed! They were so adorable and very happy!
Anyhow, all that to say...here's the wedding card! Their colors were red white and black (you thought I was going to say blue, huh??!!). So when our Doubledog Host for the week Charlene (aka LilLuvsStampin) asked us to make a card with bling using embossing powder and glitter, I was thinking that woman must be reading my mind!!
I used Baroke Motifs from SU, red glitter and gold embossing powder and some tiny red round half-back jewels in the center of the red star burts. Quite easy actually.
Thanks for dropping in everyone!! Sweet dreams!

Weeky Featured Stamper: Anne Ryan

Supplies: Paper - SU white, vanilla. Embellishments - pearl brads and ribbon from HL.
SCS hosts a "Featured Stamper" challenge on Sundays. The best thing about this challenge is it gives you a chance to focus on someone's gallery and hopefully "honor" them with a case of a card from their gallery of your choosing. In order to not copy it out and out, the rules suggest that you change at least two things to make the card your own.
This week's Featured Stamper is Anne Ryan. I don't recall my first incounter with Anne, but at one point, she commented on the challenges that were going back and forth between Bev (Beestamper) and me (the birth of the Doubledog Dare Girls). I asked her to join in, begged, pleaded and mentioned to her that we "Annes" had to stick together. That's when she decided her name was not Anne, but Lauren. ??? From that point forward, if I ever addressed her as Anne, she corrected me. So to me, she's Lauren. And I've been enjoying the pleasure of her comments and PMs ever since. Any how, eventually she gave in to doing one card -- an all white card. That was the Dare and she tried it out (to rave reviews I might add!!), yet she declared herself officially out of any further Dares!! LOL!
Now on to business... This is for the phenomenon that is Anne Ryan (aka Lauren). She is totally deserving of adoration and praise. Her original style and fabulous embellishments have me gasping with every post. From the vast array of art in her gallery, I chose her submission for the All White Card Dare. How could I not choose a card with my namesake??!! ;) I of course did not have the fabulous flower or beads that she used, so I substituted the best I could. Otherwise, the sketch and color scheme are the same...sort of. Afterall, one cannot expect to ever reach the artistic heights of the Honorary Princess of the High Maintenance rganization.
