Plaid and Buttons!

This is my card for the Doubledog Dare challenge this week: Plaid and Buttons! I was a little curious how the combo would work but I think all is well with this one!

I created the plaid background using SU Flannel Plaid BG stamp in Artichoke and Chocolate chip to go along with the Color Challenge this week over on SCS -- Chocolate Chip and Always Artichoke.

The button is really two buttons -- a large brown one from GinaK and an Always Artichoke one from SU, stacked on top of each other. I punched some leafy branches with an EK Success punch to tuck under the buttons so they weren't sitting there unadorned and random looking!

I can't believe there's nothing Martha Stewart on this card?? Must be late. (LOL!)

Hey!! I Doubledog Dare You to play along in the DDC challenge this week!! Create a card using plaid and buttons! Just use DDC as your keyword when you upload your card!! Post it to your blog or fav on-line gallery and leave me a comment to let me know!! The Doubledog Dare Gals (see my sidebar) would LOVE to see your work!!

TFL, happy stamping my friends!

Summer Turtle Card

I really need to get caught up on my challenges!! This card combines a couple of them that I'm behind on... still have one more to go after this but for now, here's what I've got! This is for Julia's (aka Create with Me) DDC to use the free Whimsie Turtle digi image from Melyssa on a card or project - the image can be downloaded from her blog; and for JoAnne's (aka Sleepy in Seattle) DDC to make a Summer-y themed card using Blues, Oranges, Yellows -- or we could go with today's Color Challenge on SCS which is Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal, Creamy Caramel, and either Bashful Blue or Baja Breeze. Whew!! Got all that?? I figured the turtle was pretty Summer-y, I don't know of many Winter turtles. I colored him with Copics and layered him onto the challenge colors along with a matching panel of Daisy D's DP from the Brighten My Day 8x8 pad. The sentiment is from SU's Think Happy Thoughts set and the embellishment is a Creamy Caramel colored decorative button I found amongst my stash of random buttons. I tied an Apricot Appeal bow around it all to finish it off. BTW, all the DDCs are posted here on SCS. We would love for you to join us and share in the fun of these challenges!! Just post your card on your blog - leave me a comment if you do, or use DDC as a keyword when you post to SCS. All the DDC gals will be sure to check out your work!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

"Seeing Circles" and "Baroque Motifs" stampsets by SU. Baja Breeze DP, Pacific Point and White CS. (Whew, you should see my craft room!!)
Winter finally came to Texas and I'm home today due to an ice storm! Woo Hooo!! Today's card is for the Tuesday Color Challenge over on SCS, my weekly Doubledog Dare Challenge with my stamping pals, a monthly challenge I do with Joanne (aka SleepinSeattle) where we select a mutually unused technique or tool to make a card, and a personal challenge with myself to use something on every card that I have been hoarding. So, here's the lo down on these challenges: 1. Color Challenge: Use Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, and Garden Green. Check. 2. Doubledog Dare Challenge: Use a back-of-the-card stamp (isn't our host Bev (aka Beestamper) so clever?!! Check. You should try this challenge -- upload to the SCS gallery and use Keyword DDC!! We'd love to see your card!! 3. Monthly Challenge with Joanne: This month's item to use was eyelets, and we had to use a minimum of 7 on our card, and at least one had to be part of the design (vs. just holding down the layers). Check. 4. I "unhoarded" my Big Bite Cropadile and Jumbo Eyelets, and my Cricut. Check. I sure could get used to this stay-at-home thing. Happy Stamping everyone!
