So I Bought a Few Stencils

Hi Friends,

Slow on this bandwagon I think... but I bought a few stencils awhile back and hadn't used any yet.  So here's a card that was inspired by many seen on Pinterest.  (What did I do before Pinterest???).

The stencil on this card is Heidi Swapp.  I used a sponge dauber to sponge TH Peacock Feathers, TH Spiced Marmalade and SU Smokey Slate over the corner. Apparently not the best tool to use for stencils, will have to investigate other applicators for best results!

I added a flower from a stash of some I made using TH Sizzlits Tattered Flower Garden.

The sentiment is Hero Arts "Made With Love" set in Versafine Onyx Black.  I sprinkled it with gems, rounded the corners and mounted it to my card base.

Hope you have a great weekend!   TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

An Inky Background - Tim Holtz Mini Distress Ink Pads

Hi All,

The watercolor technique on this card is fun to play around with because you can't predict what you'll end up with, but the result is always unique and surprising!

I tapped some Tim Holtz distress ink pads randomly and directly onto an acrylic block, sprayed with lots of water so it started to blend, then pressed it onto my white cardstock panel. It was easy to get a variety of colors using Tim's new mini ink pads.  Their tiny 1"x1" size makes it easy to fit lots of color onto a block for this technique.

After the background was completely dry, I layered it onto black cardstock, then stamped my images (Candles from Inkadinkadoo Birthday Sentiments) and sentiment (Hero Arts Essential Messages) using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  Added a tiny bit of yellow glitter to the flames of the candles and then mounted the finished panel onto white cardstock base.

Good as done!!

Watercolored Poppies

Hi Everyone,

Hope this is a very blessed Easter weekend for all of you!

I made this card for the Inspiration Challenge this weekend -- I'm hosting (here) and I hope you'll join me!   I chose the website "Eglantyne Shop" which I don't have a clue what that means, everything is in Chinese Script.  I just know that I love everything on it!!  I could easily make a dozen cards inspired from this webstore!

I chose This ローズモチーフ・シルクボックス Item from the "New" section as my inspiration.  Translated it means "Rose Silk Box."  I think.  Anyhow, I was inspired by the print, the softness and the colors.  And I love all things Victorian.  So it was an easy choice!

I started with a textured panel of Blush Blossom cardstock and very lightly rubbed Groovy Guava ink over the raised texture to bring out the pattern just a bit.  I then heat embossed the "Watercolor Poppies" image from Rubbernecker in white EP.  I colored in the poppies with my "Watercolor Wonder" crayons, referencing my inspiration piece, then used a Sizzix EF to create the textured border.  I added a bracket of bling from "Want to Scrap" across the top of the panel to balance the placement of the image.  I adhered the finished panel to creme colored cardstock base.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Belli Tag Card

Hi Everyone, Wednesday is here and today the Belli Challenge is to use a metal tag on your card! I used 120# watercolor paper and my SU markers to color in this Sugar Nellie "Talking to the Birds" image. I left the spiral punched edge of the paper in tact after I tore it out of the notebook just because I could... :) I used an old fashioned office supply key tag, but I removed the white paper inside the rim of the tag to allow the little birdcage image to show through. I added three silver eyelets to carry through the "metal" theme. I then tied a teeny bit 'o ribbon to the metal tag rim (complete opposite of the ribbon on my card from this past weekend!!). Head over to the Creative Belli Blog to see more samples of ways to use metal tags! Hopefully you'll be inspired to try the challenge and link YOUR card that you made with a metal tag!! If you upload your card to SCS or to PCP, please use keyword CBC70. TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

Featured Stamper Card

Supplies Used -- Stamps: SU Garden Collage; Paper: Brocade Blue, River Rock, Que Sera Sera, watercolor paper; Ink: Black StazOn; Accesories: Pink Organza ribbon, Nestibilities, Aqua Pen, SU Markers
Hi all, We had guests stay with us all weekend so I didn't get much time on the computer. But! I did manage to sneak away early Sunday morning to check out the FS over on SCS. It was such an awesome gallery I couldn't resist!! I rushed through my card though and didn't get a chance to post it on my blog until now, so it's a little late this week. Sandra (aka b-gin-r) is the stamping queen this week!!! There are wonderful works of art through out her amazing gallery !! I chose her You are Loved card. Followed her sketch and color scheme but changed the image and left off the sentiment completely (part of my rushing I had to do!!). I had the same Que Sera Sera DP by KC and Company so I was able to keep that the same. I watercolored the image with SU markers and an aqua pen. Finished it off with a few dots and a pale pink organza ribbon Congrats Sandra!! Thanks for stopping by!!
