A Tattered Birdy and an Altered Purse Project

Hello All and [Almost] Happy New Year!

Today is my Wedding Anniversary and everyone is celebrating tonight (LOL)!  Carl and I have been married 26 years today!  I think after awhile you just stop counting and the years fly by -- I never would have thought 26 years felt this way when we first got married.  It seems like nothing has changed, but everything has changed.  I couldn't be more happy and blessed!!

For this week's Heartfelt Creations post, I have a card and an altered project!

On my card, I used products from the Tattered Blossoms, Arianna Lace and Raindrops on Roses collections.

My little rusted tin birdy is something I found at a tiny shop in NM on our last vacation.  I love rustic, antique, re-purposed findings and I have boxes and drawers and nooks and crannies full of the stuff that I've collected from estate sales, garage sales, second-hand stores, unusual boutiques, etc.   And "some day" I'm going to alter and re-purpose all of it! Ahem...

Anyhow... to get the flowers to have an aged, rusted look, I used Viva Decor 3D Stamp Paint.
I sponged the die cut pieces with Walnut Brown, Light Blue, Gold and Copper Stamp Paint.  I just randomly added the colors, no particular order, until I achieved the look I was going for.  This Stamp Paint is super shimmery, almost metallic looking and it really has a wonderful shine when you're done with the sponging.  It dries almost immediately so it's perfect for paper crafting. (And yep, you can get all the colors on the Heartfelt Creations web site!)

Up next is a small vinyl purse I altered.  It is a clear pink, vinyl one that came packaged with a blue and green one just like it.  I recall buying the set at one of the big box stores at what I'm sure was a "bargain" price LOL!  I've been wanting to dress them up for years!  Today is the day! The bag "storage" size is about 5-1/2" x 5-1/2".

To begin with, I inserted two panels of designer paper from the Romantique Garden paper collection into the purse (front and back) facing out to start the altering process.  That gave me the canvas for all the rest of the embellishing.  From there I decorated the outside by adding Arianna Blooms and Heartthrob flowers that I stamped, diecut and shaped from more of the Romantique Garden paper.

I added charms, lace, pearls ("findings" from my yard sale and estate sale scavenger-ing!) and rhinestones to transform it into something fun and almost vintage looking!

The complete step-by-step and product details for the purse AND the card are on the Heartfelt Creations Blog today!  You'll find so much more to inspire you, stop by and check it out!
