Chameleon Pens peaked my interest on YouTube and I began to  research these curious new pens.  Making a long story short, after three weeks of checking out everything I could find, I bought the large 20-pen set.  I was sold when I realized I could get all the different shades I needed of a color with one pen.  They are alcohol ink pens, exact same qualities and results as Copics, but the need for 6 green pens (or more!) for example, in different shades is gone.  For me, it takes the frustration out of not having the exact color I wanted for my image.

So what do you think?  A quick disclaimer though -- there's a learning curve, it took me a couple of tries to figure out the way the ink flows and the blending technique, but now I find it's a no-brainer for me!  Let me know your thoughts!

A Bit Different

Hi Friends,

One more week before Heartfelt Creations releases their new "Birds and Blooms" set next week!!  You're going to love it -- see photos and video here for what's to come!

Meanwhile, here's a card I made using the Romantique Garden collection.  This one highlights another one of the stamps in the collection called "Love Bird Hangout" which I stamped onto light green patterned paper from the paper collection and colored it in with Copics.  I  used a Krylon Gold Leafing pen to add the gold shimmer on the flowers and along the edges of the panels.

Sort of came out looking "old world" style I think.  That's kind of different for me! I'm just enjoying how easily you can change up the themes and styles of these collections by just using different color pallets and embellishments.  Endless possibilities! Card Catch Up!

Hi Everyone,

I'm posting several cards today to try to get a little caught up on some card making I've been doing this summer.  I've been side-tracked by some other crafty projects that aren't necessarily cards, but I'm definitely having fun.  I'll try to get more of those projects up here too.  Meanwhile . . .

Here's my first card that I made for this week's Inspiration Challenge that I'm hosting.  The webstore is "Poketo" and I chose this "Andrea Kang Wallet 2" as my inspiration.  I wanted to make a card in the pink and grey color scheme, but when I sat down to do it, it didn't turn out anything AT ALL like I was envisioning.  I'm a much better artist in my imagination LOL!!  The dies used for this card are Cheery Lynn Exotic Butterfly Small, Mini Fanciful Flourish.  Marianne Design #LR0202 border, Oval Nestabilities.

 

I had fun making this next card for my Nephew's BD.  I used three tiny stamps of strange, little bald men that I've had for awhile.  They're from an Etsy website called "Pictureshow."  Their stamps are so funky and retro and I just love them. On this card, I fussy cut the little men and had them grabbing onto a banner that says "Happy" as part of a birthday sentiment that seems to be getting away!

This next card is one I made using a Tim Holtz Blueprint Series stamp set called "Vintage Things".  The images all look like they are still in draft stage on a blueprint.  I embossed the image and sponged colors over the areas kind of randomly.  I dressed it up with some ivory seam binding, a Prima rose, a swirly metal finding and some tiny pink plastic flower buds.

This next group of cards go all the way back to Easter!  Yup, that's how behind I am on posting.  (The lead card for this post up at the top is a close-up of one of them.)  The cards were made using bubble dome kits that I bought at a Scrapbook convention in January.  I tried to find more on line but the store that had them at the show didn't sell them on line.  The good news is, I went to a convention last month and Sizzix now carries a slightly different version - at a much better price!  They are "Susan's Garden" Domes, Item #658434 if you're interested in trying them out.

For these Easter themed cards, I found some vintage background printables on-line and used them for the backdrop of the dome.  Then I just proceded to fill it up with flowers and do-dads and it just could not be easier to create a WoW! card!

This next card is made with a new Heartfelt Creations stamp set that I got that coordinates with my Spellbinders Tattered Blossoms dies.  I stamped the image onto white CS, then die cut the two smallest sized blossoms and layered them over the stamped image.  I added Stickles and bling centers.  The sentiment is SU Perfectly Penned.

And the last one for this posting is an Anniversary card that I paper pieced and colored with Copics.  The stamp is by Art Impressions.  I actually made two different ones but apparently I only photographed this one for some reason!

You're Fabulous

Hello Friends!

I am posting my card for the IC this weekend over on SCS.  The website is an Etsy Shop called "Jennspendants".  I spotted it while on a search for some jewelry supplies and really became inspired by all the wonderful images the owner uses in her jewelry pieces.

I chose this dragon necklace as my inspiration for the gorgeous colors.  Such a pretty piece!!

I started by stamping my Hero Arts flower image with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored in the petals with Copics.  I dressed up the center a bit with some SU Silver Dazzling Diamonds and then cut the whole image out.

Next I created my sentiment using a partial sentiment from Hero Arts "Essential Messages".  I stamped it with Versamark and used this awesome EP I recently picked up at a LSS.  It's called "WOW Ultra High" and it's like UTEE only in colored EP.  Fabulous stuff!! (You have to find the "Ultra High" style.)

Next I layered some white CS and gray DP onto my card base and doodled a lined frame around it.  I adhered the cut out flower and my sentiment piece that I trimmed to look like a banner.

Motorcycle Party

Hi All,

Just finished this card for a the Deconstructed Sketch #84 challenge.  I saw the sample card by Jen Shultz and really liked the sketch so I decided to try it.

I used SU! DP and the image is from Artful Inkables.  It's colored with copics and embellished with some SU! brads and a metal tag from Paper Studio

Hi All,

I was making my Thanksgiving cards and had a hankering to use my Copics.  It's been awhile since I created something with them.  Anyhow, here's the card that I made...pretty intense, huh?  I just kept making the colors darker and darker. 

Then I made this one, just some simple stamping and bling.  I got the idea from a card I saw on Pinterest.  (Still not on Pinterest? What's wrong with you LOL!!!) 

Although my card looks nothing like the one from Pinterest, it was inspired by the use of the tree.  Here's the card, not sure if you can see it if you're not linked in to Pinterest, but just in case to give credit, it's this one!

I have two cards for you! 

This first card uses three of the adorable DeNami critters:  Penguin with Balloon, Turtle with Presents, and Chickie with Flower.  I colored them with Copics to coordinate with the Kioshi Basic Grey DP and textured Bazzil CS.  I used Basic Grey Thickers Alpha chipboard and a Maya Road chipboard frame covered with more Kioshi DP. 

Then I have this really super quick card using Penguin with Balloon again and this time there's a button at the end of his string.

Could not be more fun and easy to design with these guys!

Mini Tags Card Set

I've had a wonderful Inkadinkadoo set that I got from Frantic Stamper for awhile and didn't want to put it away until I put it to good use!  I actually used it once before (here) for some other mini cards, but I love the size of the images and coloring them. I decided to make little tags out of them and use them for mini pocket cards.

I chose three of the six images from the "Boxed Wishes" set and colored them up using Copics.




I cut them out and added a circular clip and some hemp twine to each one to make the tags.

Next I created the card bases by folding a 4-1/4" x 5-1/4" Crumb Cake (SU) piece of cardstock.  I trimmed a Blue Bayou (SU) panel to 2-1/4" x 4" for each card and adhered to the card bases.  Using a gold Sharpie pen, I added the dotting around the border.





To make the pockets on the card, I punched Martha Stewart's Trellis Border out of Summer Sun (SU) CS.  I applied glue only to the bottom and very edges of the sides of the trellis borders so the tags could be slipped inside.  I wrapped a 5/8" blue satin ribbon and knotted it around the trellis.

I punched three Pale Plum (SU) CS flowers with a Martha Stewart Cosmos flower punch,  selected the AC Elements Glitter buttons I was going to use and used them as a template to pierce my holes into the center of the flowers.

I threaded the hemp twine through the top of the trellis and then added on the flower and button, then tied the knot on top.

This card set was inspired by the following challenges (turned out quite a few of the "same" challenges out there this week -- lucky me!!  ;0)
