Holiday Snow-globe for Cyber Challenges!

Hi Friends!

Did you get out there to grab some of those great Black Friday deals today?!  I heard all about them, but I didn't spend a single dollar!!  It just worked out this year that I am done with my Christmas shopping already!!  In recent years, we've paired down our gift-buying list quite a bit (opting for homemade cards, crafts and/or edible goodies). Our nieces and nephews are in their mid to late teens so gift cards or cash is the way to go for them!  I'm hoping to make a big "dent" in the "homemade" gifts part of this situation over this wonderful lo-o-o-ng weekend!!

Today's card is designed for this week's Inspiration Challenge over on SCS  as well as several cyber challenges that I've listed below

I'm happily hosting the IC again -- THANKS STEPHANIE!! -- so I searched high and low for a website that would hopefully be inspiring to everyone who is busy making holiday cards or gifts this weekend.

The website I chose is "The Country Porch".  They feature wonderful country/folk art items with an "Americana" theme running through everything they sell.  For my inspiration piece, I went with this "Grandma's Quilt Prairie Apron".

I kept the color scheme and CAS style and opted for another one of my (cheat!) holiday stickers, a 3-D Snow Globe by KandCompany, as the focal point.  The sentiment is from Verve's "Poinsettia" set and DP is Graphic 45 Vintage Holiday.  The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.

Thanks to the following crafty challenge Blogs for letting me join in their weekly challenges this week!!  Please check out their links for deets and great inspiration!!

2 Sisters  Non traditional Christmas colors (Kraft, Brown, Rust)
Craft Your Days Away Texture  (Grid EF, Crimper, grosgrain ribbon)
Crafty Emma  Vintage Christmas (Vintage snow globe and village home)
Just Us Girls  3-D holiday embellishments (K&Co Snow globe)
Our Daily Bread Designs - Snowflakes (brown snowflake ribbon)
Character Cafe - neurtral color and glitter / sparkle (Kraft, glitter in snow globe)
Christmas Stampin' - Christmas and anything goes
Crafty Catz (1 entry) - Christmas
Totally Papercrafts - Untraditional Christmas colors (Kraft, Brown, Rust)
Feline Playful (Nov. 27 challenges)

Hope you get a chance to pop by SCS too and play along!  I'd love to see you there!!

Easy Chrismas Cards!

Hi All,

Using the same basic, square-card layout, I made all these cards in less than an hour and a half last week!  I was so happy to knock out 6 or 7 of them without reinventing another card every time!  Of course, these are really just "decorated paper" cards, no stamping is happening with these.

The cards all use a variety of holiday DPs from Paper Studio "Heartwarming Holiday" paper pack and My Mind's Eye "Holly Jolly" collection.  The centers are stickers from either K&C Company's "Evergreen Tags" Layered Accents or Layered Stickers.  A few of them I added some red bows or ribbon or a little button here and there.  But I kept them all pretty simple.

I'll be posting the not-so-simple ones over the next couple of weeks!!

Thanksgiving Parade of Cards

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

I'm pleased to be able to post my Thanksgiving cards BEFORE Thanksgiving this year!!  I'm usually up late until the last minute getting these things done and don't have time to post them!!  Anyone else out there like that??  LOL!!  So to get on with the "parade"....

First up:

This card is a CASE from Karen Barber's gallery -- I lost the direct link to this specific card, but here's the link to her blog (you'll love going through it anyways!!), it's in there some where!!.  All the products used on this card are SU!

Next:

A super simple CAS card using a Making Memories glitter chipboard sticker, a clear plastic leaf embellishment that I colored with Copics, and 4 small scalloped circles from Cuttlebug that I folded, embossed and then glued together to make the pumpkin.  I sliced very thin green CS to make the vines.  The sentiment is by SU!  Fortunately this won't be going in an envy!  It will be hand-carried to the hostess (my sister) of our Thanksgiving dinner this week!

Next up:

This card is made using new Basic Grey Pyrus paper that I got from Frantic Stamper!!  Oh how I loooove this paper pad!  The sentiment is a chipboard sticker from the same collection and the flowers are miscellaneous Primas that I ran through my Big Shot along with the panel to give a sort of faux "pressed flowers" look.  (And can you see one of my beloved Peel Offs on there that I managed to sneak in!!)

Next, my over-the-top card:
Sometimes, there's nothing you can do to "save" a card, no matter how many flowers and doo-dads you stick on it!!!  This card was evolving and changing even as I posted it.  Now I just want it to go away!!  :)

And finally, my Thanksgiving Do Over:
I made this altered tin "card" last year for a DT project.  I never really finished it because I didn't like how it came out.  So this year, when I pulled out my Thanksgiving box of crafting goodies, it was in there, so I sat down and re-did all the parts I didn't like.  I'm ok with it now and so it's going in the mail to mom and dad this year!

This is the inside of the top of the lid.  The hardware piece in the center is keeping the little flap closed.

 Little flap open...
This is one side of the accordion "card" that is tucked inside the tin.
This is the other side:

And that concludes this year's Thanksgiving Card Parade!!  May your own Thanksgiving Day bring you and your family peace and blessings as you gather together to thank God for His many blessings!

Woodware Challenge Card #2

Woodware USA "Penguin Fun" set
Happy Monday My Friends!

I've buried my head the last couple of weeks to get my Thanksgiving cards done and about 25+ Christmas cards done so far!  Whew!!  I'm needing at least another 25 or so more that I know of right now!  Turns out I'm doing a lot more "paper decorating" than stamping on my cards this year (using tons of embellishments, die cuts, chip board, etc.) but it's making the load a lot lighter!  All week this week I'll be posting what I've made so far so I hope you'll come back to visit!!

Meanwhile, today is the second Woodware USA Challenge!!  This week you're invited to join us in making a one-layer card!  Post your creation over on the Woodware Blog to enter the drawing for a prize at the end of the month.  If you use Woodware Stamps, you get an extra entry!  Play every week this month and you'll increase your chance of winning!!

Baby Bear!

Hi All,

Here with a quick post of a couple of Christmas cards I made using the same basic sketch.  For both cards, I embossed the images with SU! Copper (retired) EP, punched the border with EK Success large Scallop border punch and tied off my ribbons by wrapping them with a coordinating button.

This image and sentiment on the card above are from the Woodware USA set called Polar Bears!  The DP is "Heartwarming" by The Paper Studio.

The image on this card is from "Celebrate the Season" by Recollections.  I added a Making Memories super sparkly "Shimmer Florish" brown chipboard piece as an accent.  The DP is from the Basic Grey Blitzen collection.

Jesus is the Reason!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Here's my card for the Featured Stamper Challenge over on SCS this week.  Congrats to Tobi (aka Jazzytobi), well deserved!!  I chose her "CASDT09FALL01" card to case!!  A perfect CAS design for a holiday card that you want to make multiples of!

I kept her layout but used materials I had on hand to create my version.  (SU! Kraft CS, Craft White ink and Striped Ribbon.   Sentiment by Stampabilities.)

Wonderful inspiration Tobi!  Congratulations
